Integrated Requirements Management with TestTrack RM

New to the the TestTrack product family in TestTrack 2010, TestTrack RM is a requirements management solution that manages the complete requirement lifecycle, including planning, workflow, traceability, review, change management, and reporting. TestTrack Pro features seemless integration with TestTrack RM, enabling you to achieve end-to-end traceability of all development project artifacts.

Rich Text Editing

TestTrack Pro's rich text editor lets you completely control the appearance of text, insert links, images, horizontal lines, and tables, and check spelling in multi-line text fields. You can also insert stamps to mark changes.

Mark Items as Suspect

The complex relationship between test cases and other development artifacts means if one item changes, related items need to be reviewed to determine if they should also change. TestTrack Pro makes it easy to spot potential secondary changes using suspect flags. If a test case or another linked item (requirement, defect, change request, etc.) changes, TestTrack Pro can mark the related items as suspect to indicate they need to be reviewed to determine if any changes are needed. Users can click the flag to quickly view the dependencies and the effect of the change.

Traceability Matrix

TestTrack Pro's traceability matrix allows you to perform coverage analysis by viewing the relationships between related items. For example, you may want to ensure that at least one test case has been generated for each completed change request in a project. You can use the traceability matrix to compare change requests against test cases to see which change requests have test cases linked to them.

The traceability matrix displays items in rows and columns for comparison. Each item is listed by its item type tag and number, and the number in parentheses indicates the number of links or relationships.

Linking Enhancements

Linking maintains item hierarchies (item A must be completed before item B, for example) and ensures related items can easily be found and reviewed when one of the items changes. TestTrack Pro 2010 includes the following linking enhancements:

• Drag items in and between list windows to quickly create links.
  
• Link definitions now give you more control over linking related items. You can configure link definitions that require a link comment, limit the number of allowed items in links, and restrict link parent and child items based on item type.
  

Automation Rule Enhancements

Enhancements to TestTrack Pro's powerful rule-based triggers and email notification system helps automate processes and keeps team members better informed of important project issues.

• Create notifications and escalation rules that email users selected in custom user fields. 
• Create notifications that send email when items are added to or removed from links. 
• Create notifications that send email when a tracked email is received and added to an item. 
• Create triggers that assign items to users selected in custom user fields. 
• Create triggers that run when a workflow event is entered. 

Additional Enhancements

TestTrack Pro 2010 also includes the following enhancements:

• Edit and annotate screen captures
  
• Pass http or ttstudio hyperlinks as environment variables to executables run by triggers. 
• Create report style sheets that return XML data instead of transforming it to HTML. 
• Faster load times for RDBMS projects containing large numbers of reports.
