Automatic Assignments

TestTrack Pro streamlines the issue lifecycle with automatic assignments. Using rules you define for your workflow, TestTrack Pro can triage and assign new issues to users and reassign issues as they are worked on. For example, if a bug fix fails the QA verification process, TestTrack Pro can automatically reassign it to the developer who originally fixed the bug.

 

Email Notifications

Email is a critical communications tool in product development. TestTrack Pro features a powerful rule-based email notification system that keeps team members informed of work assignments, high priority issues to monitor, test failures, and more.

Email notification rules are defined by a precondition (a filter the issue must pass), a trigger (creating a new issue, assigning an issue, etc.), and email actions to perform (email the assigned user, the user who found the issue, a group, etc.).

Email Conversation Tracking

You can send email directly from TestTrack Pro, making it easy to communicate with users and customers without switching to your email application. Emails can also be tracked and added to the defect they are sent from. Tracked email can be viewed on the issue Overview or Email tabs.

Emails responded to using an external email application are automatically attached to their corresponding TestTrack Pro issue, storing the entire conversation with the issue.

Customizable Email Templates

Email templates are used when notifications are sent to users and when confirmation messages are sent to users and customers who submit items via email.

TestTrack Pro supports text- and HTML-based templates, which can be easily customized using the WYSIWYG editor:

 

Assign to Multiple Team Members

In many situations, more than one user needs to sign off on a step to move a task to the next step. TestTrack Pro's workflow lets you set rules to manage assigning issues to one or more users depending on the state of the issue. A few examples of this flexibility include:

Verifying Bug Fixes

Anyone on the quality assurance team can verify and close a bug fix. The first person to verify the fix moves it to the closed state.

 

Reviewing Design Documents

All stakeholders on the distribution list must mark the design document as reviewed before it moves to the next state.

 

Fixing Defects

Only the assigned engineer can fix the defect and move it to the verification state.

TestTrack Pro easily handles these and more complex assignment rules. Assignment rules specify how state assignment events are processed, letting you restrict which users can enter an event, specify multi-user assignment options, and change the rules order.

 

URL Access

Email notifications can automatically include one-click URL access to records. These clickable links take users directly to the related defect, making communication more streamlined and effective.

The selected issue's URL is always displayed in TestTrack Pro's Address Bar, making it easy to copy and paste into emails sent outside of TestTrack Pro.

RSS Feeds

You can create TestTrack Pro RSS feeds to help team members stay up-to-date on projects. RSS feeds are based on TestTrack Pro filters, making them both powerful and easy to create and maintain.
