Unable to Recommend Repository Changes

Article ID: 829  |  Last updated: 23 Dec, 2014

Note: This information applies to QA Wizard Pro 2009 and later.

During playback, smart matching is used to recommend better search criteria if QA Wizard Pro cannot determine the difference between two or more controls. If this occurs, QA Wizard Pro displays a warning that includes a 'Review recommended repository changes' link in the Errors window and continues playback.

When attempting to review the recommended repository changes, 'Unable to recommend repository changes' is displayed as a result of one of the following situations:

  • You made the recommended repository changes before clicking the link in the QA Wizard Pro Errors window. The next time you run the script, QA Wizard Pro should be able to uniquely identify the control.
  • You captured an identical control that does not need to be distinguished in the application repository. For example, if a script opens the same Web page twice, smart matching detects the new window and displays the warning only to show that multiple windows have been located. QA Wizard Pro cannot recommend repository changes in this case because there is no difference in the windows.
