Windows Returns a Data Execution Prevention Error

Article ID: 814  |  Last updated: 29 Dec, 2014

QA Wizard Pro closes unexpectedly and Windows returns a Data Execution Prevention error.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP), which is enabled for all Windows programs and services, helps protect systems from viruses and other security threats by determining if programs use system memory correctly. DEP prevents some QA Wizard Pro components such as the OCR functionality, from working.

See the Microsoft Data Execution Prevention (DEP) article for more information.

Change the DEP setting to only monitor essential Windows programs and services.

  1. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Settings in the Performance area.
  4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  5. Select 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only'.
  6. Click OK to save the changes.
