Image Transparency Not Preserved When Pasting from the Clipboard

Article ID: 696  |  Last updated: 24 May, 2017

When you copy an image from Surround SCM’s internal image viewer to the clipboard, and then paste it into another application, the transparent background changes to black or white.

Transparency is supported by some file formats, such as PNG. The clipboard stores images from Surround SCM in a raw format that does not support alpha channel data. Image transparency is not preserved between copying and pasting.

Get a local copy of the image file from Surround SCM and open it in the other application. For example, if an image is inserted into Microsoft Word, transparency is preserved.
