GUI Elements Display Incorrectly on Fedora Core

Problem

Surround SCM GUI controls may not be displayed correctly on Fedora Core distributions that use Gnome Window Manager.

Cause

The default Qt configuration included with Fedora Core Linux distributions uses a theme that does not display controls correctly.

Solution

Use the KDE desktop environment.

  1. Close the Surround SCM Client.
  2. Install the KDE Control Center from the Fedora Core distribution CD.
  3. Choose Actions > Run Application.
  4. Enter /usr/bin/kcontrol then click Run.
  5. Click Appearance & Themes then click Window Decorations.
  6. Select a window decoration other than the default.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click Style.
  9. Select a widget style other than the default.
  10. Close the KDE Control Center and start the Surround SCM Client.
