Creating Patches Using Surround SCM

Article ID: 643  |  Last updated: 23 Dec, 2014

You can use Surround SCM to easily create patches for distributing source code updates.

To create a patch, generate a Surround SCM differences report and save the output as a text file, which contains the patch code.

You can then send this patch file to your customer. The customer can apply the patch to their copy of the source file using the GNU Project’s patch utility.

For more information about patches, see Tips for Making and Using Patches.
