Database Error When Creating a TestTrack User Without a First Name

Article ID: 399  |  Last updated: 05 Jan, 2015

Note: This information only applies to TestTrack 7.1 and earlier.

Problem

A database error occurs if you create a TestTrack user without a first name and use an RDBMS backend database. The error also occurs when converting a TestTrack native database to an RDBMS database and a user does not have a first name.

Cause

The FirstName field in the Users database table is set to NOT NULL and requires a value.

Solution

Edit the Users database table to make the FirstName field NULL so it does not require a value.

In Oracle:

ALTER TABLE USERS
MODIFY FIRSTNAME VARCHAR2(32 CHAR) NULL;

In SQL:

ALTER TABLE USERS
MODIFY FIRSTNAME VARCHAR(32 CHAR) NULL
