TestTrack ODBC Outer Joins Support

Article ID: 349  |  Last updated: 30 Dec, 2014

The Seapine ODBC driver supports outer joins but it requires a particular syntax. Following are examples of the syntax that the CodeBase ODBC driver is expecting:

Note: The TestTrack ODBC driver is only supported with TestTrack 2011.1.3 and earlier.

ojshorthand ::= { OJ oj }

oj ::= tableref LEFT OUTER JOIN tableref ON boolean

| tableref LEFT OUTER JOIN oj ON Boolean

For a join on Table1 and Table2 you would use:

select ... from { OJ table1 LEFT OUTER JOIN table2 ON table1.field = table2.field}

To join Table3 to the join of Table1 and Table2 you would use:

select ... from { OJ table3 LEFT OUTER JOIN table1 LEFT OUTER JOIN table2 ON table1.field = table2.field ON table3.field = table1.field }

Example

Following is an example of the outer join using CodeBase supported syntax:

SELECT
DEFECTS.SUMMARY,
FLDCOMP.DESCRIPTOR,
ESTFIX.ESTHOURS

FROM
{oj DEFECTS LEFT OUTER JOIN ESTFIX ON DEFECTS.IDRECORD=ESTFIX.IDDEFREC}, FLDCOMP

WHERE
DEFECTS.IDCOMPON = FLDCOMP.IDRECORD

ORDER BY
FLDCOMP.DESCRIPTOR ASC
