Administering Users in Helix ALM

Article ID: 307  |  Last updated: 25 Apr, 2017

Users and passwords are stored on the Helix ALM License Server. This lets you create users in a centralized location then simply import them into the various projects. Administration is easier because users must only remember one username and password.

In addition, you can create global and local users in Helix ALM. Global users can access projects and local users, which are created when bugs are submitted via SoloSubmit or SoloBug, are usually created for tracking purposes. Global users can also be shared with Surround SCM.

By default, the license server administrator is the only user who can administer other users. You can use the Helix ALM License Server Admin Utility to give administrative permissions to other users.

  1. Start the Helix ALM License Server Admin Utility and log in as the administrator.
  2. Click Global Users, select the user to grant permission to, and click Edit.
  3. Click the Security tab and select an option to allow the user to work with users.
  4. Click OK to save the changes.

The user will now be able to change passwords and promote and retrieve global users in Helix ALM .
