Migrating from the 32-bit Seapine License Server to the 64-bit Seapine License Server on the Same Computer
Last Updated
1st of June, 2011

The 64-bit TestTrack and Surround SCM installers install the following 64-bit license server components:

  • 64-bit Seapine License Server
  • 64-bit Seapine License Server Admin Utility
  • 64-bit Seapine License Server API
  • Required DLLS for the Seapine License Server

By default, the 64-bit Seapine License Server database is stored in SQLite. Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server are also supported.

Before installation

You must complete the following steps before installing the 64-bit Seapine License Server.
  1. Create a backup copy of the Seapine License Server database. See Backing Up Seapine License Server Databases.
  2. If you are using Seapine License Server 2011.0 or earlier with a license server native database, run the 32-bit TestTrack or Surround SCM 2011.1 or later installer to upgrade the 32-bit license server. The database is automatically converted to SQLite format. After the upgrade, you can optionally convert the database to a different type.
  3. If you are using Oracle Native for the license server database, install the 64-bit Oracle Native Client.

If you are using SQL Server for the database, create a 64-bit ODBC DSN. Stop the license server, rename the 32-bit DSN so it does not use the same name as the 64-bit DSN, and create a new 64-bit DSN with the name previously used for the 32-bit DSN.

Convert databases

If your Surround SCM Server or TestTrack Server databases are stored in SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, convert the database to an RDBMS type you already use.
  1. In the RDBMS, create a new database for the license server.
  2. Start the Seapine License Server Admin Utility.
  3. Choose View > Server Options and select the Server Database category.
  4. Select the RDBMS type and enter the information for the database you created.
  5. Click OK to convert the database.

Installing the 64-bit license server

Windows

  1. Stop the license server if it is running.
  2. Run the 64-bit Surround SCN or TestTrack installer and install the license server components in a different directory than the existing 32-bit server components. The default 64-bit application directory is C:\Program Files\Seapine\License Server.
  3. If you are using SQLite for the license server database, copy the LSServer.db file from the 32-bit directory to the 64-bit directory.
  4. Start the 64-bit license server.

Unix

  1. Stop the license server if it is running
  2. Run the 64-bit TestTrack or Surround SCM installer and install the license server components. The 32-bit and 64-bit servers are installed in the same directory. The default application directory is /Applications/Seapine License Server  on Mac and /var/lib/splicsvr on Linux.
  3. Start the 64-bit license server.
