"'Entered By' field"

I was wondering if it is possible to have the "Entered By" field filled in automaticaly when a bug is submitted via SoloSubmit either by a hidden value in the form, or an option somewhere in TTPro.

Thnx,

David

I would also like to know this -- currently we have to disable "Entered By" as a required field since SoloSubmit doesn't set it.

Solosubmit does support the Entered By field. There is a trick to get it to work though. Initially Solosubmit was not designed to fill out any Entered By User because that is supposed to indicate the logged in person who is writing up the report. Through Solosubmit there is no logged in person. But as one user mentioned it can be annoying when that field is required. So I tried this out, and it worked, and here is how you can do it.

TestTrack will import data sent from Solosubmit designated with the ENTB field code. The TTCGI.exe which runs Solosubmit will not populate the %ENTB% because it does not expect to see it. So you have to write out the entire tag manually.

Entered By users are defined by a Numeric value (Not by their name). In order to find the Numeric value for your User's names, login to TestTrack Pro Web go to Add Defect and select View Source. Browse down to the Entered By section.

This section will contain the <select> tag and all the <option value=1> tags for your Users. You can copy and paste the entire select tag into Solosubmit. This will give you the equivalent list in Solosbumit that you see in the Add Defect window.

For the user who wants to set a default value, I would recommend using a hidden input tag. Something like....

<input type="Hidden" name="ENTB" value="1">

The Value should be replaced by your Users numeric designation that you've gotten from the Add Defect window. This will set a default value for the Entered By field. You can maybe create a dummy user for Solosubmit issues so as not to throw off your User statistics

This is an undocumented feature because Entered By technically is not supposed to work from Solosubmit. But because the Server accepts the ENTB value, just like it was any other defect field, you can add it using these steps. I have added two feature requests for us to consider. Add ENTB field code support to Solosubmit and be able to configure a default user account to apply to all Solosubmit imports.
