Thank you to everyone who participated in the Maximizing Requirements Value Throughout the Product Lifecycle webinar. The webinar recording is now available if you weren’t able to attend or if you would like to watch it again. Transcript from the webinar Q & A follows.
Q & A
Q: Do you perform retrospectives and do you let client stakeholders into the retrospectives?
Yes, I perform retrospectives and allow client stakeholders to attend. There are two ways to perform retrospectives. One is to formally invite stakeholders to a retrospective meeting. The other is to build sensors that collect usage statistics, which can then be easily analyzed and understood, into the system itself. You need to have an awareness of how you conduct retrospectives. You do not want to go back to the same users over and over again.
Q: We use TestTrack Pro. If we purchase TestTrack RM, is the interface the same or would we have to switch between UIs?
TestTrack Pro, TestTrack TCM, and TestTrack RM all share the same platform on both the client and server side. Accessing requirements is simply a matter of having the right license associated with your user. You use the same client interface, which reduces the learning curve on adopting a new requirements tool. If you’re interested in checking out TestTrack RM, you can request an evaluation key online or through your Seapine sales rep.
Q: Can you export a traceability matrix in TestTrack RM?
You can export a traceability matrix to Microsoft Excel. Exporting is a great way to share information with users who don’t have access to TestTrack RM or run their own metrics on the trace relationships. To export the traceability matrix to Excel, open the TestTrack client and click File > Export > Microsoft Excel Export.
Q: Can TestTrack RM generate pre-formatted requirements documents in Word format? Do you have any sample reports?
TestTrack supports importing and exporting of pre-formatted Word documents. This video highlights how to import your existing Word documents into TestTrack. To see how exporting works, check out this blog post about using Word bookmarks to export Word documents or consult the TestTrack user guide.
Q: Is the workflow configurable in TestTrack RM?
It is. Configurable workflows are also one of the key differentiators in TestTrack. You have complete control over the workflow, and can even use different workflow paths for different types of development artifacts. Configuration is done through the client interface, so there’s no need for custom scripting or other band-end hacks to get the workflow that matches your development process.
Q: Can you generate reports on requirements and other project metrics? How easy are they to set up?
TestTrack makes it easy to generate a variety of reports, either on-demand or in real-time using live charts. Additionally, the Seapine ALM Reporting platform provides cross-project custom reporting.
