I'm looking to take data from my SQL DB and seperate it into an archive location. From time to time, I will then need to be able to access this new archive and be able to periodically add to it as other data becomes available for archive.

This is typically a function of your specific database solution. But from a SurroundSCM perspective you would not want to do this as we actually need the history and those older records cannot be archived.
