What version of Helix ALM/TestTrack and what version of the License Server are you running? There was an issue with some third party SASL code back in 2005 where a blank password could be accepted under certain situations with Active Directory but that issue was quickly resolved with a maintenance release. I assume that the user has a non-blank password defined in Active Directory. I just tested this scenario with the latest Helix ALM version and the Active Directory password validation is working correctly.

We have 2010.1.1 Build 25, TestTrack Pro.  I'm not sure what the version is for the license server.  Thank you.
License Server 2010.1.2 ships bundled with TestTrack 2010.1.1. I ran a test with License Server 2010.1.2 and TestTrack 2010.1.1 Build 25 connected to Active Directory. In that test scenario, the password validation was working correctly and I was unable to reproduce the problem you described. I would recommend contacting Perforce support so they can gather more information regarding your configuration and environment.
