Seapine Software Introduces 2008 Versions of TestTrack Studio and Surround SCM

Updated Versions of Popular Products Provide Key Capabilities That Better Enable Companies to Develop High-Quality Software

Mason, Ohio—September 19, 2007—Seapine Software, Inc., a global provider of quality-centric application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions, today announced TestTrack Studio 2008, a powerful software test management solution, and Surround SCM 2008, a highly-flexible software configuration management solution. The announcement of these updates to Seapine’s popular ALM portfolio was made at CMP Media’s SD Best Practices in Boston, where Seapine Software is a major exhibitor.

“Our customers are extremely quality-driven and are looking for seamlessly integrated development tools that automate their repetitive processes to improve efficiency,” said Richard Riccetti, president and CEO, Seapine Software. “The 2008 versions of TestTrack Studio and Surround SCM offer more automation, additional data organization options, and tighter integration than prior releases and also better address the needs of distributed development teams.”

Efficiency through Automation and Improved OrganizationWorkflow automation in TestTrack Studio 2008 is even more flexible, with automatic escalation rules to ensure critical issues receive timely attention, and event-based triggers that can send emails, modify data, and execute external applications. TestTrack Studio 2008 also includes a number of new features to keep teams organized and able to find information faster. Folders provide the perfect system to hierarchically organize issues, test cases, and test runs, while tabbed views enable quickly switching between list windows with different pre-defined queries and column layouts. And, finding issues in a large database is easier than ever with type ahead searching.

Faster Distributed DevelopmentDistributed development teams are now the norm and fast access to digital assets, including source code, design documents, and test data is essential to productivity. Surround SCM 2008’s new proxy server improves performance of file retrievals for distributed teams by caching recently accessed files. Innovative pre-caching of new file versions is unique to Surround SCM’s proxy server. The result is fast access to files from any location in the world.

Better Integration into the Development LifecycleImproved integration between TestTrack Studio 2008 and Surround SCM 2008 lets developers easily manage the inherent relationship between issues and resulting source code changes. A rewritten Visual Studio 2005 plug-in makes Surround SCM 2008 a first-class source control citizen in Microsoft’s industry-standard integrated development environment.

“With each iteration of our product releases, we strive to make them more powerful, yet more transparent to end users,” said Paula Rome, director of product management, Seapine Software. “Our customers want to focus on design, coding, and shipping products, with the confidence our tools are working behind the scenes to help them manage software quality. That’s been a principle focus of our 2008 products.”

Availability and LicensingTestTrack Studio 2008 and Surround SCM 2008 are expected to ship in early October 2007 and will be available for Microsoft Windows®, Linux®, Sun Solaris®, and Apple Macintosh® operating systems.
